[va-bird] House Heron in the Sunset

I just had a neat birding experience. Around 5:00 PM I went for a walk in my
neighborhood near Herndon and had a double take when I briefly observed a large
heron
like bird disappear from a roof top. Not being near water, my first thought
was Sandhill Crane. I looked into the backyard and saw a Great-blue Heron
standing in the backyard, ignoring a barking dog that must have been
restrained. The neighbor came out and I showed the bird to her. She
mentioned that they had a small fish pond near the house but she had never
seen the bird there before. She sent her kids in for a camera and by the
time they returned it had flown to the peak of a house 2 doors down where
she got it in sillouette. I continued my walk and was watching the sky when
I noticed that the position of the clouds had created what looked like a double
sunset with an orange afterglow in both the western to northwestern sky as
well as a similar display in the southeastern sky.
