[va-bird] Hooded Mergansers at Roaches Run

During the last hard cold snap we discovered that Roaches Run was frozen
down to a greatly reduced open area for two days in a row. This area was
close to the viewing side and consequently everyone, including the Hoodies,
was much closer than normal. For long periods the Hoodies were only thirty
yards from us and offered outstanding scope studies. Later this week
should offer the same opportunity.
