[va-bird] Am. Pipit + at Gravelly Point

This morning (Thurs, Jan. 2nd), on my way to work I heard and then saw
an AMERICAN PIPIT flying over Gravelly Point (heading south towards
National Airport and over DC waters - yay). Also, the number of LESSER
SCAUP on the Potomac is up to c.240 (about 60 higher than yesterday),
but the number of CANVASBACKS was lower (only 2 or 3 this morning vs.
c.25 yesterday). Didn't see any Greater Scaup this morning, but didn't
scrutinize every one. The number of RUDDY DUCKS was also strong, with
about 100 birds stretched up and down the coastline between the point
and the RR bridge over the Potomac. The scaup were first off the north
end of the airport, but then flew up to the same area as the Ruddies.
Good birding,
