A month had passed since the Eagle had encountered te
mysterious ship. In that time no other attacks had occured (at least
none close enough for the Eagle to hear about it). Lt. Tracy had
analyzed the incident which led to the getaway of the mysterious ship.
She was ale to determine that they had simply flooded a region of space
with plasma gas, and the moment the Eagle dropped out of warp,
they ignited the plasma with their weapons. What othered Lukas about
that explanation was the question of whether the attackers were
extremely lucky in that they flooded the precise spot, or they were
cunning enough to know exactly where the Eagle would enter
normal space. This would have to e answered should they encounter that
ship again. The ship itself still remained quite a mystery.
Counselor Dennex had made himself well know aout the ship. He
continued his counseling sessions with Dr. Melody, and was quite
pleased with her progress. As far as her feelings towards the young
Malachi were concerned, Dennex neither encouraged or discouraged them.
He simply let Melody relate them to him. It seemed the two were
maintaining a friendly relationship ut were not going far beyond that.
Dennex was disappointed that Commander Marqusa was more and more
elusive towards him. She would sit with him and discuss crew morale,
but would go no further. There always seemed to e something more
important for her to handle as soon as crew discussions were
completed. Another mystery aboard ship was the commanding officer,
himself. Dennex had yet to spend more than two minutes with Commodore
Fyrstk.
Dennex had been quite amused watching, Cadet Wren. He noted in his
reports to Gwen that Hailey had no trouble getting to know the crew.
She, in fact was quite flirtatious with senior staff members, himself
and Commander Marqusa so far excluded. He put his theories concerning
the cadet into the memo to Cammander Marqusa.
All in all, for the time being, things were running smoothly.
