Malachi sat down at his desk.  He knew he should have started his studies sooner, but being in sick bay with Melody was much more ... interesting.  He activated the lesson projector.  A small holographic "teacher" appeared on his desktop.

"You are late, Mr. Fyrstk," the 8 inch woman scolded him.

"Yes, ma'am," Malachi said, though he did not feel the least bit sorry for being so.  He thought about telling her where he was, but he knew the holographic teacher would only give him hassles about excuses.  Besides he was in too good a mood.

"Well, let's get on with our physics lesson," the 8-inch woman said.  She started in on the lesson where they had last left off.  She was going over the different theories concerning black holes.  Malachi listened intently for a total of two minutes.  Then his mind left the cabin.

He was now back in sick bay.  Sitting next to Melody.  Helping her strengthen her telepathic abilities.  She was, or at least would be a very strong telepath.  Malachi could feel it.  With all the times he had communicated with Whisper he could sense the strength of the telepathic link.  Melody had that strength.  She just neeeded to develope it.  She was also...very pretty.

He suddenly envisioned himself walking hand-in-hand with her.  Taking a moonlit stroll on the holodeck.  Possibly even using one of Noah's programs from his grandparent's farm back on Earth.  He wondered if Melody ever went horse-back riding.  He suddenly thought about kissing Melody.

His memory of the kiss by Tiama flooded back to him.  Would  Melody's lips be as soft?  Would she ever let him kiss her like that?  Would....

"MISTER FYRSTK!" came te insistent voice of the holographic instructor.  "You better get your mind back in this class, right away or I wil double or homework."
