That sounds like a lot of fun! Marv, I've got a C-5 so if I can be of help you're welcome to it.

I might even be presuaded to bring some goodies too.

I am a new owner of a used scope of a used scope (Celestron 5 C) and would love to go through the steps of how to set it up and the best way to use it. Going outside when it might be close to 0 doesn't sound all that great, but I could adapt. You probably would touch on the adapting of the scope, however, is my understanding of the temperature change for the scope is that you need to do something to allow for the change in temp before you can use it. I would certainly try to get to a meeting like this. Keep me posted.

Thanks

To add a quick note, partially in response to Leslie's e-mail, and in case I don't make the next business meeting.

I have had several requests lately from UEC members that have telescopes but don't know how to use them and would like guidance or would like to learn how to use their scopes more effectively.

So I propose for our January Urban Stargazers meeting rather than a lecture or structured program, to have a very loose gathering on the second floor of the Center, where people can bring their telescopes from home and some of our "experts" will be available for advice and instruction.

I'll arrange clear skies so that once people get a hand of how their scopes work, they can take it outside and practice.

If I make hot chocolate or hot cider we can call it a holiday party.

In other words, make the meeting a loose social gathering, but with a purpose.

  Any ideas? thoughts?

  Tim
