The Aurora were very bright and clear in the north sky on 11/7/04 about 7pm. My
kids were so excited (well, so were mom and dad) while looking from our driveway
that I drove them to Brookfield's Mitchell Park (quite near the Capitol Drive
Airport) where we had a great view. Lots of green and a little yellow. They
varied from small spots to a ribbon that filled the whole north sky. Then they
faded to nothing in seconds.
Can anyone suggest a good web site explaining what Aurora are, where they have
been recently spotted, predictions for next showing, etc.? As I understand it,
the physics of why they happen is well understood, but predicting them (time and
location) is nearly impossible.
