Richard's post prompted me to report my FOS Fox Sparrow, seen next to a swamp
in Vanleer in rural Dickson County on December 1st, which was also a brownish
specimen. On the same day Marilyn Burgess and I saw a Red-breasted Nuthatch in
her yard in Dickson County. My FOS Red-breasted Nuthatch was on October 20th in
Fairview in rural Williamson County.

Subject: [TN-Bird] yard list first- Fox Sparrow

Dec. 8, 2007

Here in suburban Nashville, Davidson county, I can tell we are having an
irruptive year when I get a Fox Sparrow in the yard, first in my five years
being here. When I lived out in country on the edge of the county there were
always a few on the farm, but would only be seen in the yard, around the bird
feeder, when there was snow cover on the ground. The color on this individual
is
more brown than red.
Purple Finches made an appearance here for a few days in November, and one
Red-breasted Nuthatch has been seen or heard for the last week or so.
