Sunday afternoon (2 Dec 2007) I decided to hit some areas around
Louisville in Blount Co, TN, covering some of my territory for the
Knoxville CBC (which will be on Sat, 5 Jan 2008, contact me for more
info). Specifically, I ran by Miser Station Road, Louisville Point
Park, Poland Creek, the area around Phelps Dairy Farm, and Scenic Point.

The ponds near the dairy farm are all dry or almost dry so we will
be hard pressed to get a lot of waterfowl on the CBC I'm afraid.

One of the highlights was standing in a rain of pine seed chaff at
Louisville Pt Park as a large flock of Brown-headed Nuthatches,
American Goldfinch (40+), chickadees, and juncos worked the pine
cones. Tried to pick out a siskin or something nice but no luck.

Canada Goose, 83
Mallard, 20
Green-winged Teal, Hitch Pond... or what's left of it
Hooded Merganser, 19 Louisville Rd/Topside Rd intersection
Ruddy Duck, 1, Scenic Point
Muscovy, 21 (just because I like to keep track of them)

Highlights...

Pied-billed Grebe, 21

Great Blue Heron, many
GREAT EGRET, 2 along Louisville Rd between Miser Station and Topside

American Coot, 12, most at Louisville Pt Park
SANDHILL CRANE, 4, Miser Station Rd at Louisville Rd

Killdeer, many
COMMON SNIPE, 12, Miser Station Rd at Louisville Rd

Bonaparte's Gull, many, more Bonnies than Ring-bills
Ring-billed Gull, many

Great Horned Owl, 2 calling at 4PM at Miser St and Louisville Rd
testifying to the gloominess of the day

Red-breasted Nuthatch, 1, feeders near Phelps farm
Brown-headed Nuthatch, ~5, Louisville Pt Park
