[TN-Bird] More Sandhill Cranes

Byrdstown
Pickett County
At 8:45 AM 55 Sandhill cranes came flying up Wolf River beside my house--low
enough to see their backs. They continued flying very hard to pull up over the
bluff then circling higher to get the right tail wind and off they went giving
contented calls.
At 11:30 AM a noisy group of 150 followed by 350 more all strung out like a bad
hair-do, and all trying to talk at the same time made for bad counting.
At noon I heard more that was too far west for me to see. There were more
reports close by that could or could not have been the same birds I saw.
Clear skies-light wind from the north- 25 to 32 degrees.
Robbie Hassler
