[TN-Bird] WillieBoy Day 5
- From: "Tommy Curtis" <tcbirdwatch@xxxxxxxxxx>

WillieBoy got up early this morning and apparently was waiting for me to put
the feeder out at 6:15 since he came almost as soon as I was back in the house.
Our heart rate automatically increases as we see him zoom into the light and
take his first quick stabs at the sugar water. He usually just gets two or
three touches and then comes back in a couple of minutes to do the same. After
ten minutes and several visits, he settled down under the heat lamp and sat and
did his first of what the kids would call "7-11" visits - big gulps! He
doesn't have that overall coppery color yet as his back and head are more green
but the rufous on his sides and neck is gorgeous and we think his throat patch
has filled in more in the five days we have seen him.
Bob Sargent is working on a schedule to come and band him. When he has a
definite time for his visit, I will post and if any of you want to come and see
it done, you are welcome. Of course, you are welcome to come any time to see
this pretty little fellow. Just email or call - 615-215-1254 - so we can be
sure to stay home as the feeder is not visible from the road. Mornings would
probably be better as he is much more active at the feeder then.
