[TN-Bird] Downy, hairy & goldfinches

Good Afternoon,
Here in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville in Davidson County, one of
my regular yard downy woodpeckers was perched on the same tree with a hairy.
The hairy left shortly and headed over toward Bell's Bend across the river.
Three goldfinches just came for some Niger, and the male (?) sampled the
peanut butter...TWICE.
There are at least a couple of hundred starlings in my back yard. It
doesn't look as of there are any "nicer" black birds with them. Lots of
mourning
doves, juncos, white-throateds, chickadees, titmice, a pair of Carolina's,
blue jays, robins, cardinals, mockingbirds, rock pigeons, house finches, house
sparrows and no-telling-what-all is out here just flitting back and forth
everywhere.
My squirrels have built their biggest nests ever, and their bodies seem to
be furrier than ever. Cold winter?? Remember how the lady from Crab Orchard
(TN) used to predict severe cold when the squirrels (and wooly worms) had
thicker fur?
I keep watching my trees out back in case something REALLY good comes in.
Dee Thompson
