 Yesterday was a perfect day for litterpicking at Rankin Bottoms, sunny and
cool.  Birding was not exceptional: the area is high and mostly dry this
timeof year, & the floodplain has only a thin cover of vegetation.  However,
Ray Payne and I got to see 4 sandhill cranes lift off and head north toward
White Pine.  That's a Cocke county first for me. Also notable: Wilson's
snipeAmerican pipit (200+) Palm warbler (6) Litterpickers (13)  Many thanks
to those who helped make our 6th annual cleanup a success.  Blessed are the
cleanup crews, they restore the beauty of the natural world for all.
