I need a little help, I'll be looking for a few birds in West TN before the
end of the year. Suddenly with the help of the two Hurricanes passing over
Pickwick Lake, I find myself with quite a few species this year in West TN. It
looks like if I had applied myself earlier on a few species that I usually
get, 300 species was doable this year in just West TN. In fact if someone had
tried this year for a TN BIG YEAR 310-315 would have been possible.
If you are in West TN and run across any of the following "most likely to
appear species" and any "far out possibilities" not listed, please give me a
call: (901) 487-8521
Any hummer besides Ruby-throated
Eared Grebe
Neotropic Cormorant
Fulvous or Black-bellied Whistling Duck
Brant
Eurasian Wigeon
Cinnamon Teal
White-winged Scoter
Long-tailed Duck
Prairie Falcon
Rail other than King or Sora
Glaucous Gull
Sabine's gull
Black-legged Kittiwake
Common Ground-Dove
Long-eared Owl
Northern Saw-whet
Smith's Longspur
Black-headed Grosbeak
Red Crossbill
Evening Grosbeak
Any eight will do the trick and of course needless to say I'd go for any
First State Record such as the Black-throated Sparrow any where in the state
:o)
Many thanks to all that post to TN-Birds making birding in the state such a
pleasure.
Good Birding !!!
