[TN-Bird] KTOS Field Trip
- From: Harold Howell <howellh2@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

The following field trips have been scheduled for Saturday, December 11,
2004:
Saturday December 11, 2004
UT Plant Sciences Farm
Leader: Tom Howe (tdhowe@xxxxxxxxx)
Meet at the UT Vet School parking lot. The target birds at Plant Sciences
Farm will be American Pipits and possibly Longspurs.
We will also be looking for migrating sparrows. You may want to bring
something to drink. When we finish, we will join the walk led by Charlie and
Tracey Muise listed below.
Saturday, December 11, 2004
Maryville Greenway Children's Walk
Leaders: Charlie and Tracey Muise (traceson@xxxxxxxxx)
We will meet at the Blount County Library at 9 am on
Saturday. Since we had so many youngsters at the fall
picnic at the zoo, Charlie and I would really like to
encourage their involvement in birding in the club.
Our goal is to introduce young birders to using
binoculars, looking for identification marks in common
and uncommon species, etc. We will be birding the
Maryville greenway focusing on the waterfowl and other
birds present there. We will have some extra
binoculars to share with kids. It goes without saying
that all adults are welcome.
To get to the library from Knoxville.
At the Maryville/Alcoa split, just beyond the airport,
bear right to stay on Rt. 129. Cross the railroad
tracks. At the first light (with Cracker Barrel and
Anderson lumber) turn left (I believe it is Louisville
Rd). Stay on that road, although the name changes to
Cusick. The library will be on the left at the 5th
set of lights, I believe, just before the hill and
bridge across the greenway.
Best regards,
Harold Howell
