The blue-morph Snow Goose I reported yesterday spent all
day in the retention pond in front of NTRC. It and the
Canada Geese were still there when I left at 6PM.
Today (2 Dec) I ran across the street to the Pellissippi
State campus at lunch and found the group there, including
the "Blue" Goose. Pellissippi State is at the Hardin
Valley Rd exit off of Pellissippi Parkway (Hwy 162) north
of I-40/75 in west Knox Co., TN.
Several groups of Canada Geese use this area and come and
go throughout the day. The particular group that the
"Blue" Goose is hanging out with contains banded Canadas
with neck collars X42E and R85E. X42E was part of the
flock that the Ross's Goose associated with last winter.
I wonder if this adult "Blue" Goose is the same bird as
the immature "Blue" that was in the same area last year
with an immature white-morph Snow Goose. Both hung around
last year long enough for the Knoxville CBC along with a
Greater White-fronted Goose. Hope this one does too...
and draws in some more friends.
