[TN-Bird] Bird Crashes

Several years ago my wife and I were parked at a red light when an immature
starling fell like a stone in front of our car and slammed into the pavement,
dead as a doorknob. My wife remarked that the same thing had happened to her
at another intersection a few weeks before. I wonder if anyone else has seen
or heard of this phenomena and if so if they might know what caused it.
Best Wishes,
