[TN-Bird] Partial albino Red-tailed Hawk in Dyer County

Matt Prater & I spotted a mostly albino Red-tailed Hawk today while traveling
on Parker Road south of Roellen in Dyer County. The bird was spotted along
Parker Road about 1/4 mile south of the jct. with Hwy. 104 in Roellen in Dyer
County.
I was driving and Matt said "what is this white bird flying towards us?". I
couldn't see the bird so I pulled over and grabbed my binoculars just as the
bird was flying away from us. It was approximately 50 yards away when I first
looked at it and the bird was pure white above with the exception of the
typical red tail feathers. It flew a short distance and landed in an oak tree
approximately 100 yards away and we put the scope on it. It was facing us and
the bird was solid white feathered from the front. The yellow feet, yellow
base of the bill, and darker tip of the bill really stood out with the rest of
the bird being so white. This bird was a real treat to see. Hopefully he'll
stick around for the winter. I've seen some partially albino Red-tails before
but this one was by far the Snow White of the ones that I've seen.
We also made a quick glance across Lauderdale Waterfowl Refuge at Halls in
Lauderdale County and didn't see a single duck or goose. It's a little early
yet and we were there at mid-day as well but things should start getting busy
there later on this month.
Good birding,
