[TN-Bird] Weekend Birding

Mud Island, Ensley Bottoms,
Robco Lake - Shelby Co. TN
 
Here are a few birds picked up over the weekend: 81 White Pelicans on the  MS 
RV on Saturday were not seen Sunday. 120 pelicans were present at Robco Lake  
on Saturday and 200 plus were seen circling over that area on Sunday from the 
 pits at Ensley.
 
A single winter plumaged Sanderling was found on Saturday at the pits in  
Ensley Bottoms but not seen on Sunday and 11 Greater Yellowlegs were  feeding 
in 
the old Horn Lake slough area along Riverport Road on Saturday with  only 5 
present on Sunday. Scattered Least Sandpipers at the pits and along  the slough 
totaled 226 birds.
 
At Robco Lake on Saturday, there were; 1 Forster's Tern, 38  Ring-billed 
Gulls, 2 Great Egrets, strings of DC Cormorant that suddenly  appeared out of 
North Lake totaled 780+ birds, 31 Pied-billed Grebe, a  nice variety of 
waterfowl 
was present, including; 189 Ring-necked Duck,  2800 Lesser Scaup, 750 Ruddy 
Duck, Canvasback, Redhead, Hooded Mergansers,  Bufflehead, Gadwall, Mallard, 
Shoveler and Wood Duck.
 
Two Pectoral Sandpipers on a sod farm in Tunica Co, MS, were late. Wilson's  
Snipe numbers remain scattered and low here but over 200 were reported in one  
field in Black Bayou at Reelfoot, Lake Co, TN by Ken Allen, visiting from  
Florida.
