[TN-Bird] Old-growth trees in Memphis

Hi, Birders. I live in east Memphis, Tennessee, inside the expressway which
rings the city. This neighborhood was built in the 1950s, so the pine trees,
the oak, and the magnolia in my yard are all probably more than 55 years
old. How old does a tree have to be to be considered "old-growth" ?
Our trees seem to attract lots of woodpeckers. There are the Downy
Woodpeckers ( a male, a female, and a fledgling ) who come regularly for
breakfast at my suet. We have two Red-Bellied Woodpeckers ( a male and a
female ) which have drilled a hundred holes in my peanut butter log. And
just this Sunday I was looking for warblers in the canopy of my pine trees
and spotted a male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker ( red crown and red throat ).
Way cool.
All this woodpecker activity is happening inside a major metropolitan city.
I figure the woodpeckers are attracted to our 55 year old, bug-ridden ( easy
to drill ? ) old-growth trees. Now I'm just waiting for an Ivory-Billed
visitor to check out my woodpile... ha ha ha.
;-)
