[TN-Bird] Siskin, etc, Blount County

Hi folks,
South Blount County
11/9/04
Today I finally cleaned out and filled our thistle feeder for the
first time since probably April.
Within 20 minutes there was a Pine Siskin on it! Poor thing must
have just been waiting and waiting...
At one point, had I the motivation to set up the camera, I would have
had the siskin and an adult male Purple Finch in the same field of
view, though on 2 different feeders.
Also had the first 2 Brown-headed Cowbirds of the season in the yard.
These were both male. Though a much maligned species, I find them
quite attractive and welcome.
Sparrows seem low in numbers compared to last Novemeber. Generally
just a couple Song and a handful of White-throated.
Charlie
