With the scoter sightings in TN this past weekend I decided to 
head to Radnor Lake this morning, where scoter have been 
occasionally found in past years.
 
This morning I arrived at the west parking lot. With the cool
temperatures, I decide to keep moving, and so I walked completely
around the lake and thus, got more exercise than birding.  
Nevertheless, at several stops I found something of interest.  
Ducks were mostly far back in the northern cove and difficult 
to identify without a scope.  There were at least 30 ducks with 
GADWALL being the most numerous, but I also found AMERICAN WIGEON, 
RING-NECKED DUCK, and MALLARD. Best birds of the morning were a 
single RUSTY BLACKBIRD eating poison ivy berries near the dam and 
3 PURPLE FINCHes, 2 males and 1 female, eating with a flock of 
AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES on Otter Creek Road near the eastern end 
of the lake.  Three WINTER WRENs were very chatty.
