Bill Landry, a cameraman and an audio technician from WBIR-TV joined us for an
extended canoe tour of the backwaters of Rankin Bottoms on August 18. A 5-hour
trip has been condensed into 3 minutes and 40 seconds for presentation during
the coming week. We talked about the history and ecology of the area, and our
conservation and management goals. An assortment of summer residents and
migratory visitors were recorded: osprey, great egret, green heron,
double-crested cormorant, wood duck, prothonotary warbler, spotted sandpiper,
lesser yellowlegs et al.
The segment is scheduled to appear at 6:25 AM on Monday and Thursday, 12:25 PM
on Wednesday, and 11:25 PM on Friday. We haven't seen it yet, but it should
offer a good sample of an extraordinary domain.
