Winston Walden spotted a nice Merlin yesterday around
10:00 A.M. CST near the boat ramp in the Franklin County
Park on the south side of Woods Reservoir, Franklin Co.,
TN.  The bird was perched near the top of a deciduous
tree at the west end of Eider Island while we viewed it for
about five minutes at c. 200 m with a 20-60X 'scope.
Among about 55 other species we observed during
a 2.5-hr. circuit of the reservoir were

Common Loon 50+
Horned Grebe 150+
Red-breasted Merganser 15
American Pipit 1
