[TN-Bird] New yard bird--momentarily!

Greetings,

I arrived home at approximately 10:45 AM having just completed my monthly
first-Wednesday-of-the-month-senior-discount grocery shopping at Krogers to
find
a new bird feeding on my deck. Along with four mourning doves, I saw an
Eurasian collared dove stalking around feeding away at the Wood Thrush Store's
mix
that I use. The quintet of birds fed for about three to four minutes giving
me a nice chance to do a little comparative study. One of my poodles then
appeared at the French door, and the birds flew into the tree behind my deck.
As
of this time, one mourning (perhaps a different regular) has appeared, but I
haven't seen any of the others. I do hope the EUCD does return, as I just got
my lifers back in August when the Nashville TOS went to Ensley Bottoms and the
Memphis Railroad Yards. I'd like a little more time to experience this bird.
I think I DID see it in Europe in the 60's, but I have misplaced the record
if I did with all the packing and moving that I've done in the past 42 years.

No juncos today, so maybe those two from yesterday were just on their way to
their OWN wintering grounds and not my usual crew that normally comes a little
later. Haven't seen that starved sparrow again either. Of course, I was
away for almost two hours and was getting dressed before that, so may have
missed
anything good. Since it is raining pretty steadily, the birds are probably
"holed up" for the duration or until they become so ravenously hungry that a
little rain won't dampen their quests for food. There is PLENTY out there for
them. My "smorgabird" is heavily laden.

Cheers & Prayers,

Dee Thompson

Cumberland)
