Radnor Lake, Nashville, Davidson Co.
At about 10:30 this morning at Radnor I was sitting on the opposite side of the
house from the bridge and heard a different chip note. I tracked the sound to
a brush pile and discovered that it was indeed the MacGillivray's! There was a
couple there from Canada who also saw it. They just happened to be visiting
the park and someone at the Visitor Center told them about the bird. After a
couple of minutes it flew over towards the bridge and became silent and we were
never able to relocate it. We did find an Orange-crowned Warbler while trying
to find it though. I left about 12:15 pm.
Jan Shaw and I also had a male Purple Finch in the top of a tree while looking
for the warbler earlier in the morning. I also watched 2 River Otters
wrestling each other in the lake for over 30 minutes.

The Red Phalarope was still on the mud flats at Britton Ford late this
afternoon. There were also several Killdeer, Dunlin and Stilt Sandpipers
present as well as a few Wilson's Snipe. The phalarope was still there when I
left at 4 pm.
It was a great day - fantastic weather, a Life bird, a year bird, and lots of
other fall treats mixed in!
Good birding,
