Tiptonville, Island 13,
Everett Lake and Heloise
Lake and Dyer Co. TN
Island 13 had little to offer but it did have a few good birds with two
groups of American White Pelicans (56-76) in the air and another 47 on the
water.
Add those to the 660 counted on a slip of sand at Heloise and the birds on
Tiptonville Bar and I ended the day with 1082 Pelicans. There were Killdeer all
around the shrinking Island 13 pool with 2 Greater Yellowlegs and a dozen Least
Sandpipers for the shorebird list and 6 Ring-billed Gulls on the water plus a
dozen Franklin's passing during my time there.

At the boat ramp west of Mud Lake on the Mississippi, I had another small
group of Franklin's. At the 79 and 181 highway junction there were 46 Wilson's
Snipe, 17 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Lesser and 7 Least Sandpipers with numerous
Killdeer. At Everett Lake there was a great mix with 211 Killdeer, 31 Greater
Yellowlegs, 4 Lesser YL, 2 Western, 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper (getting late),
359
Least, 38 Dunlin, 12 Stilt Sandpiper, and 67 Wilson's Snipe. Water Pipits were
seen is small numbers on most of the sandbars.

Good Birding!!!
