After two weeks of virtually no river bird traffic, this last front brought 
down some birds. A short trip revealed a good movement of Pied-billed Grebes 
with 6 groups floating down with Coots. I counted a total of 64 grebes and 31 
coots. I had 3 flyby Ring-billed Gulls and 4 Forster's Terns plus a couple of 
sterna type terns that got by and were too far to ID. A few Killdeer, Great 
Blue Herons,?Least and Spotted Sandpipers?plus a single line of DC Cormorants 
filled out the list?for this short visit. It would have been a good day for a 
"river sit".

With little time, I hurried by the?"pits" and found the large numbers of Least 
Sandpipers,?little diminished even with the multiple Peregrines seen on recent 
trips. The front did add Dunlin and Long-billed Dowitchers to the weeks list 
with the single immature Baird's still present along with Spotted, Pectoral and 
Lesser Yellowlegs. A partially albino Least that?I have named snowflake is 
going into it's 4 week staying with the ever growing number of it's brothers 
and sisters.

At TVA, there were a number of Pied-bill Grebes and among the ducks present, 
the leucistic Mallard, now in his 4th year standing out like a sore thumb,?was 
hanging with a molting?Pintail male and a few Blue-winged Teal plus a couple of 
Shovelers. The?DC?Cormorant and Great Egret numbers are down.??

The adult and 2 immature Peregrines,?present this weekend were not seen. The 
small immature male Peregrine?was banded and?with the scope I was able to get 
clear photos of the band and numbers. The adult which stayed to itself and the 
large immature female?that continually chased the small male were 
unbanded.?When and if I get a report back?I'll post the young male's origin.
