After spending a great day in Kentucky with Dave Roemer and many
Kentucky birders (many thanks to all), I decided to wander closer
to home today. My wife Bonnie and I went to Radnor Lake but
waited til the sun warmed the air just a bit. Although migrants
were reduced in numbers compared to early last week, there were
still warblers coming through. Highlights included 6 warbler species
with over 1 dozen TENNESSEE WARBLERs, 1 immature BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER,
1 BLUE_HEADED VIREO and my first of the season WINTER WREN. Several
NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWs were about, and I found a single
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK. There were a number of ducks on the lake
but from the deck along the lake trail, they were almost all viewed
into the sun, and I was not able to definitely identify any species.
Birds of interest included:
Winter Wren 1
Blue-headed Vireo 1
Tennessee Warbler 14+
Nashville Warbler 1
Magnolia Warbler 3
Yellow-rumped Warbler 40+
Black-throated Green Warbler 3
Blackburnian Warbler 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1
