Had some things to take care of this morning (10 Oct 2006)
and worked in a little birding time. In the backyard in
Knox Co., migration is still on with about 10 Tennessee
and 1 Black-throated Green Warbler but signs of winter
are creeping in with 4-6 Golden-crowned and 1 Ruby-crowned
Kinglet. At our lot in Louisville in Blount Co., winter
was more in control with 10+ "Myrtle" Yellow-rumped and
6-10 Western Palm Warblers, 2-3 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers,
a handful of White-throated Sparrows, and a few more
Golden-crowned Kinglets. Still some non-winter-residents
including 2 E Wood-Pewees and a fleating glimpse of a vireo
that may have been a Red-eyed.
