[TN-Bird] Sightings Report, 4 Oct 2006, Ensley Bottoms area, Memphis

Sightings Report, 4 Oct 2006, Ensley Bottoms area, Memphis, Shelby County,
Tn
Location: TVA PONDS
Observation date: 10/4/06, 5-510pm
Notes: Slow once again since dredging is ongoing. Watched Kingfisher
dive come up with a shad lost it about 20 ft up but caught before it hit the
water. Impressive refusal to lose the catch.

Location: TE Maxwell Lagoons
Observation date: 10/4/06, 510-620pm
Notes: Good amount of Least Sandpipers on the big pond but what was
surprising was how many were in the small ponds next to the drying fields.
Was breezy today. Immature redtails still around the front of the first two
pits and into the entrance fields as was the Kestral. Other RT's were spread
out the complex. 3 Greater yellow legs spotted in with the Lesser Yel legs.
Picts taken with the two together for comparison purposes. Starlings are
starting to mass up real good.

Notes: Water in the ponds drying up fast.
