Hi Dee
My gentleman friend has very occasionally had 1 or 2 white-throated
sparrows in his Kingston backyard as early as September, but I seldom
see them out in my more wooded area until December.

Mornin',
While having my oatmeal and watching my outside feeders, I saw two
little
brown birds fly up to a wire just above my deck. The first one stayed
long
enough for me to see that it was a lovely white throated sparrow; then
it gave its
call which proved it to my amazed self. By that time, the second bird
have
flown, so I do not know if I had one or two of them. Isn't it early for
white-throats in Nashville? It does seem that I went through this last
year,
although every year before, I haven't had them until about Christmas
time. It seems
my juncoes were early last year too. They had always been late
December/early
January arrivals on my deck before. Both species stayed seemingly very
late
this past spring as well. I remember wondering if they were going to
stay all
summer! Occasionally, I still have two of the field sparrow family that
took
up here a couple or three months ago, probably the parents who came in
first.
One was on a feeder late yesterday. I would suspect they have sent
their
young packing--away from the free smorga-bird the parents enjoy so much.
Happy and blessed birding,
Dee Thompson
