Friends of Cranes;
I wish to invite you to the Whooping Crane Festival being held at the
Tennessee River Park on Amnicola Highway, in Chattanooga Tennessee on
Saturday, October 19, 2002. The festival celebrates the soon arrival of our
new little flock of 17 immature whoopers flying their maiden voyage along the
eastern flyway. They will, of course, be following the Operation Migration
ultra-light surrogate parents and will be accompanied by crew and staff, with
the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership. A walk-a-thon begins Thursday, Oct.
10th at the Kentucky border and walkers will traverse the state of Tennessee
with their Whooping Crane Kite in tow, and will walk as nearly as possible
the route the Whooping Cranes will fly when they reach our state, in early
November. That walk will culminate at the Finish Line at the Chattanooga
Whooping Crane Festival in the Tennessee River Park at about 2:30pm.
Visit our Website for more information on the walk:
www.whoopingcranesovertn.org.
