[tn-bird] Mon & Tue at Radnor Lake, Nashville

Monday I found several disabled or dead birds. At the Radnor Lake
West parking lot was a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER hopping along the
sidewalk catching insects apparently because the primaries and some of
the secondaries of its left wing were almost completely gone. At the door
to the Avon Williams building of TSU in downtown Nashville were 2 DEAD
warblers, an OVENIBIRD and MAGNOLIA WARBLER.
I birded Radnor Lake for about 2.5 hours on both Monday and Tuesday
mornings. On both mornings there was extensive cloud cover but bird
activity was substantial.
As noted on the NTOS fall count report, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs are
now here in droves, easily outdistancing the MAGNOLIA WARBLERs
numbers. The number of warbler species seen decreased today but 4
species (Yellow-rumped, Magnolia, Black-throated Green and Tennessee)
dominated. Numbers of some of the migrant species seen in the past
2 days are compared below.
