Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery, Anderson County, TN
1700-1740.
72 F, calm, light rain at start, then rain stopping and a few patches of
blue sky visible.
Except for a few Killdeer, all the shorebirds were in the large uppermost
pond. This pond is presently drained. Much of the plastic liner is covered
with a mat of mostly brown aquatic vegetation. The shorebirds were
clustered around pools of water on the mat of vegetation. This was the
largest count of shorebirds that I have had at the hatchery in some time. I
was a little surprised to not have any more herons or egrets.
