This has been a week of losing Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and seeing a variety 
of birds in our yard.  Sunday afternoon we had large numbers of migrant 
hummingbirds join the 100 or so we've had all summer - we estimate a total of 
at least 200.  But Wednesday morning after feeding most of them left and we're 
down to about 40-50 today.  
They've been replaced this week with a magnificent mature Red-headed Woodpecker 
Wednesday morning and this morning with 4 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and a tawny 
Swainson's Thrush.  In addition we've had Pine, Northern Parula, Tennessee, 
Magnolia, and Common Yellow-throat Warblers since Sunday along with White-eyed, 
Red-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireos.  So far in September we've seen 11 species 
of warblers in the yard and think we'll exceed the total of 17 from August.  
But no Arctic or Crescent-chested Warblers as they're seeing in California and 
Arizona.
