partly cloudy but cool
I decided to treat myself to a birthday morning walk at Radnor Lake.
After leaving the west parking lot I soon caught up to Kevin Bowden,
who had already been hiking the trails and heard a ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK. We birded to Long Bridge where Kevin left for other
more pressing duties, while I leisurely returned to the parking lot.
Although there was nothing particularly unusual, there were plenty
of warblers and vireos. I ended the morning with 15 warbler species
and 4 vireo species, including several personal "first" fall migrants,
BAY-BREASTED WARBLER and OVENBIRD plus PHILADELPHIA and WARBLING
VIREOs, for my viewing pleasure.
Birds of particular interest included:
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 1
Swainson's Thrush 4
Cedar Waxwing 8
Warbling Vireo 1
Philadelphia Vireo 2
Warblers
Blue-winged 3
Golden-winged 3
Tennessee 3
N. Parula 1
Chestnut-sided 8
Magnolia 12
Black-throated Green 4
Bay-breasted 1
Black and White 4
Am. Redstart 8
Ovenbird 1
Common Yellowthroat 2
Hooded 1
Wilson's 2
Canada 1
