Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.
Nashville, TN
Monday 2007 10 September
7:15-9:30 am
overcast, misty, moist, humid
Finally, the real begining of significant numbers of migrants
through Radnor. Instead of having to walk all the way around
the lake as I did twice last week, I only walked from the West
Parking Lot to Long Bridge and back. Although I found 12
species of warblers, plenty of SWAINSON'S THRUSHes and a VEERY,
by far the best bird of the morning was a first winter LARK
SPARROW, my first at Radnor Lake. It was seen on my return to
the dam area in front of and then to the Otter Creek Road side
of the Ranger's house. Best of the warblers was a male
BLACKBURNIAN and 2 male GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERs.
Birds of interest included:
Eastern Wood-Pewee 7
Acadian Flycatcher 2
Great Crested Flycatcher 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 2
Veery 1
Swainson's Thrush 6
Gray Catbird 1
Cedar Waxwing 10
White-eyed Vireo 3
Red-eyed Vireo 7
Blue winged Warbler 3
Golden-winged Warbler 2 males
Tennessee Warbler 2
Northern Parula 2
Chestnut-sided Warbler 4
Magnolia Warbler 4
Black-throated Green Warbler 2
Blackburnian Warbler 1
Black-and-white Warbler 2
American Redstart 7 (2 adult males)
Northern Waterthrush 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
