Sightings Report 3 Sept 07, Ensley Bottoms Area, Memphis, Shelby County
Location: TN 2 Mem, Riverport Rd Ponds / Swamp
Observation date: 9/3/07
Notes: Late afternoon jaunt down to the bottoms. Ran into Lisa Jorgenson
and Van Harris in front of the Ensley Engineer yards. I had seen about 2 doz
Grt Egrets at Pond 2 & 4 but what were they looking at? Low and behold the
fifth viewing area had about 125+ Grt Egrets spread about along with a
couple Grt Bl Herons, 2 Green Herons and a Little Blue Heron (Adult). After
we split up I returned back to pond #2 (the greatest amount of water) where
the Egrets were massing up for dusk. Took count and then counted each that
flew in after for a total of 166 Grt Egrets. Nice amount of birds for one
small pond. http://www.pbase.com/jwalko/riverport_rd_3_sept_07
