clear and cool

The passage of the cool front brought out the best bird congregation
that I have seen so far this fall, with plenty of migrants in
attendance for Mother Nature's sermon. Mixed flocks of warblers
and vireos abounded and the cool weather felt like fall. The only minor
irritation was a fellow on his cell phone near the Ranger's house,
starting his business calls at 8 am. Best bird of the day was a
calling YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER just up the trail past the west
parking lot. Also enjoyable was my first ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK of
the fall, 4 species of vireo, and 11 species of warblers. There
was a big push of COMMON YELLOWTHROATs and BLACK-AND-WHITEs, while
MAGNOLIAs were the most common.

Tomorrow should be a good NTOS Wednesday walk at Radnor.
