I read the message from Judy Pollack with great interest. I live in Western
Fayette County and at our place we've had 4 dead House Finches and several
sick ones in the last 10 days or so. We made a grisly discovery Tuesday
night when we found bird #4 dead in the feeder. The local Health Dept.
would not examine them for West Nile; they only want Crows and Blue Jays.
I am familiar with Conjunctivitis/"House Finch Disease" and these birds
didn't appear to have it. Their eyes looked normal.
I began to think perhaps it was Salmonellosis and yesterday spent several
hours disinfecting everything with a 10% bleach solution. Now, after
reading the message from Chicago, I am not so sure.
Hello Earle Davidson.
