[tn-bird] AOU Checklist supplement (fwd)

Some of us may have added a few birds to our life lists without
knowing it this weekend. Yep, it's that time again. Time when
the AOU announces taxonomy changes. I'm attaching a post from
BirdChat below with some details.

Two big changes for the lower 48, actually reversals of earlier
lumpings. The Black-crested Titmouse of Texas is once again
considered a full species, separate from our Tufted Titmouse.
Our snipe, Wilson's Snipe, has been resplit from the Common Snipe
of Europe and Asia. That lump always bothered me. Wilson's and
Common Snipe have different number of tail feathers.

Still waiting on several splits including Green-winged Teal,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Fox Sparrow, Warbling Vireo and the dreaded
Red Crossbill 8-way split.

A few scientific name changes and rearrangements as well including
Roseate Spoonbill, Blue Grosbeak, the phalaropes and gallinules.
