The yellow jackets have taken over the feeders! Does anyone have any
suggestions on trying to keep the yellow jackets at bay so that the hummers
can
feed?
I use the spray you use to keep stuff from sticking to the baking or frying
pans (PAM). I just spray a little around the feeder holes. I have been told
this does not hurt the hummers, but it plays havoc with the insects when
they get it on their wings and feet, so they stay OFF the hummingbird feeders.
Have I been told wrong, anybody? Ruby Throat, should we not do this, or is
it still considered OK? I haven't seen any hummingbirds appear to "suffer"
any ill effects from it, and, last time I herd, it was acceptable practice..
