Yesterday my mother (visiting from Ohio) told me she watched a little red 
bird on the seed feeder who stayed for quite a while and chased all the 
other birds away.  She's sure it wasn't a cardinal or a house finch; it was 
"red all over".  I showed her a picture of a purple finch and she said it 
looked like that. This is in west Knox County, Tennessee.
