[TN-Bird] Bell's Bend shorebirds

I ended my birding day at the Bell's Bend sod farm closest
to the old ferry landing. The recent rains had left several
pools of standing water. Looking with my binoculars, I counted
81 Killdeer. I also noticed some smaller, peep sized birds.
After getting my scope and walking a bit closer I was pleasantly
surprised with three very crisp juvenile Least Sandpipers and a
big male Pectoral Sandpiper that towered over his cousins.
The preposed Metro Greenway location is about two miles north
of here. A shorebird pond is being considered as part of the
habitat. Wouldn't it be great to have a reliable spot for windbirds
this close to Nashville.

Talk and walk softly, carry a big
scope.
