Sightings Report 27 July 07 Northhaven Wetlands, Memphis, Shelby County
Location:     TN, NHVN Hwy 51 Pond west side

Observation date:     7/27/07  1015-1035am

Notes:     Pond like all bodies of water around here is drying up earlier
than last year. Good amount of mudflats abound with grass beginning to grow
on it. Good mix of Herons and Egrets today.

Number of species:     9

Canada Goose     20

Mallard     9

Great Blue Heron     1

Great Egret     1

Little Blue Heron     2

Green Heron     3

Killdeer     14

Lesser Yellowlegs     2

Barn Swallow     5

 

Location:  TN, NHVN N Watkins Ponds S of Bridge

Obs Date: 7/27/07  1040-1100am

The southern most wetland area has no water at all to speak of right now.
Just a field of high grass, Small puddle in the dead timber area. No Waders
just the field and forest birds.
The Cypress pond is getting low with a large mudflat forming at the
northend. All the Egrets were within the north 3rd of the pond spaced out
about 20 yds apiece.

Killdeer   3

Northern Cardinal  1

Blue Grosbeak  1
