[TN-Bird] Three mocker nests; catbird still feeding during early morning

Hello,
Once again, there are three active mockingbird nests here in the Charlotte
Park area of West Nashville. The one across the street has "squalling" babies
in it, and a nest at a yard two doors behind me and one just down the hill
beside me has a "sitting" parent Parents are feeding the babies across the
street and mates are diligently hauling beaksful of peanut butter to parents
on the other two nests. The peanut butter disappears FAST with all the mouths
to feed.
Before the wild grapes hardly turn pinkish, the catbird is making short work
of them early each morning then skulks away silently to its domain in the
heavy underbrush along the Interstate behind the houses that back up to it.
That catbird is truly a "gray ghost" in its quiet existence except for a
little
"meow" once in awhile. I've only seen one, so it may have a mate nesting in
it's hiding place about a block away. I say "one" because that one seems to
get all the few ripening grapes before it leaves.
With the huge number of green grapes on that huge vine, there'll be plenty
for lots of birds at the height of the harvest season.
Not one hummingbird has shown up yet, and they usually start coming here
about this time. Normally, I have at least one by the time my birthday rolls
around on the 20th which came last Friday. The feeder is freshly filled
daily,
and I just keep hoping! One came one day a couple of months ago, but it
moved on to a destination unknown.
Happy birding,
Dee Thompson
