July 14-15, 2007
Ensley Bottoms
Shelby Co, TN
The numbers grew over the weekend with birds arriving and some leaving.
Least and Pectoral Sandpipers were migrant number leaders and have spread out
over the area. Killdeer and Black-necked Stilts are still setting eggs and
hustling young. Black-necks have 10 young in 3 groups and I photographed one
nests as they hatched on Saturday.
High numbers for the following were counted over the weekend trips: 3
Greater Yellowlegs, 16 Lesser Yellowlegs, 18 Solitary Sandpipers, 7 Spotted
Sandpipers, 14 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 5 Western and 6 Stilt Sandpipers.
Good Birding !!!
