[TN-Bird] Baby Hairy's!

Wow, after not posting in months and months, here I am posting twice in one
day!
I wanted to share a little bit of "Woodpecker News" from my back yard.
I am a HUGE fan of woodpeckers. I've recorded and photographed Pileated's,
Redheaded's, Red-bellied's, Downy's, and wintering Northern Flicker's, and
Yellow Bellied Sapsucker's in my yard.
Then one winter day, a year and a half ago, an adult male Hairy Woodpecker
showed up. He stayed, finding the suet and peanut feeders much to his liking.
He
got less and less shy, and I got to see him "up close and personal" on an
almost daily basis. (I have super close up pics). But no sign of any female
Hairy
Woodpeckers.
I was concerned that he would move on, without female companionship. Then
last month my friend Jan Shaw brought a birder from England over to my house.
They were hoping to get a Hairy Woodpecker for the Englander's life list, and
Jan
knew I had one here every day.
But they brought unbelievable good luck with them. They did see a Hairy
within just a few minutes of arriving. Just not my male, but a lovely adult
female!
So, now "Potter", (please don't laugh- that is what I call "my" male Hairy
Woodpecker) has a mate. And last week, for the first time, he brought a
fledgling Hairy Woodpecker to visit the feeders. I've seen two young Hairy's so
far,
and they now come alone to enjoy the suet. What a treat it is to see them!
