[TN-Bird] storm birds

Are there any data on what happens to the storm deposited birds ? Do they make
their way down the rivers and back home? Take up permanent residence? I' m
making an assumption here that this unplanned movement accounts for SOME shift
in populations. I'm also guessing that some of the species must perish due to
lack of accustomed food source. Any input?
